The Mikado, His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen, 28th May 2016

The Mikado

This is the reason I had to leave Montrose Music Festival early- there were too many good things going on that weekend!

Going to the Opera has been an item sitting on my bucket list for a long time. I received an email about Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado coming to Aberdeen so I thought I’d take the opportunity to head to the theatre.

If you haven’t heard of The Mikado, it’s a comic opera, sung in English. If you want a full summary, click here.

I genuinely didn’t expect to laugh so much at an opera, but I thoroughly enjoyed it (Richard Suart as Ko-Ko & Andrew Shore as Pooh-Bah stole the show). It was also great to hear a live orchestra too. Somehow, even Donald Trump got a mention.

Definitely not my last visit to the opera!
