Tattoos, scars and Bryan Adams

Hey folks,

Well as most of you know, I got my tattoo on my ankle on Thursday 26th. Judi at the Ink Minx did it and she was really good and very gentle.

Guess what? It wasn’t really sore! Those of you who attended school with me will know exactly what I am like around needles (yes remember how worked up I got about getting my BCG?). Well getting a tattoo is much less stressful than getting an injection.

It’s not really pain that you experience, more of a scratchy/burning feeling. It’s not an “Oh my god they’re stabbing my leg to pieces!” feeling. The only time when I thought “ow” was when the tattooing machine was right on the ankle bone. Even then, it just felt a bit more nippy.

Now that I know what its like, I would definitely consider having another one.

I know people are a bit concerned by the fact it’s a permanent mark on your skin. That doesn’t really matter to me- I already have 2 large, gross looking scars where I had the operations on the hip. I won’t be able to get rid of them and I don’t think I would want to. As horrible as they may look, they have shaped who I am; they are a part of my history and I don’t want to forget why I have them. The tattoo is just a pretty mark on my body.

Got some more good news though- I’m going to see Bryan Adams in May…yay! I get to sit in the same room as my idol. It’s going to be fantastic!

Warning- I may be permanently happy all the way ’til next May!

Toodles!

Another day, another failure.

Hmm today… :(

Well as some of you know, and the rest of you are about to find out, I fantastically failed my driving test yet again.

It’s quite funny (well its not really) but I actually managed to fail my test just 2 minutes into it.   I pulled out in front of a car before I’d even left to turn into the town.  I thought it was further away than it actually was and erm…well it wasn’t to cut a long story short (maybe I lack a proper sense of depth perception?).

Wait there’s more…

I even managed to mount the kerb while doing my left reverse round a corner.  In all fairness the road was uber busy at that point- buses, tractors, lorries you name it.  If I was a paranoid person, I could have sworn that all drivers on that particular part of the road were conspiring against me, trying to make me fail.

I’m a wee bit frustrated though- I managed to achieve one of the most beautiful, tight, perfect parallel parks that I’ve ever done.  I mean it was a work of art and it was wasted because of silly nerves and poor observation.

I don’t want to do my test again this year- I’d rather wait until early 2007.  Personally, I don’t want to have to deal with nerves like that again this year.  Twice is enough.  I just need to get my nerves under control and  general driving experience- thats all!

All said, your probably sitting here wondering if I’m distraught?

Well this time I’m not (last time I cried for a good while).  In fact I find it kind of funny.  The only thing I’m upset about is the amount of money I’ve thrown down the drain yet again.  I tried my best but it seems my nerves did get the better of me.  It’s happened, I failed and I shouldn’t sit here and worry about it- what good is that going to do?  I can’t go back and fix it now.

Failing the test 2 minutes into it has got to be one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever accomplished.  Now that’s only something I could do isn’t it? ;)

Work and Chaos

Hiya folks,

Well this is going to be one chaotic weekend I think!

I just found out today that I have a programming portfolio due in on the 6th of  November so I’m spending the weekend tweaking and finishing off some programs.  Seems I have to have a report written for that too.  I’m planning on being even more organisied than I was last year so I want to get craking with that.  Don’t know what I’m going to include the portfolio yet though!

I’ve now got a good idea what I want to do for my single piece of Java work and I want to ge that srated this weekend too.  The groupwork thing is going well now and we have been given an extension to the deadline (now the 17th November).

Lot to look forward to next week as well (some good some bad….).

I have my driving test on Monday morning which I’m bloody terrified about.  As much as I’d like to pass, I’m bloody terrified of failing…again.  I just want to get it out of the way.  If I fail this time, I won’t be sitting it again until sime point in 2007- I’d rather concentrate on my university work.

On Thursday, I’m getting my tattoo- getting all excited about that!  It’s going to be neat!

Anyways, its now almost 2.30pm and I really need to go have some lunch (then back to programming)!

PS It’s my 2nd Badanniversary today!  Ah good times :) (for those of you who are lost or confused and think I might be nuts, it means that 2 years ago today was the first time I saw Bryan Adams live).

Computing type stuff

I’m sitting here, typing up my story for my java group work project.  For those of you who are wondering what the hell I’m writing about, I’m writing about sheep.  Perhaps I have gone temporarily insane or something?  After all, I’m making a website all about sheep for another of my uni classes.  Honestly, I’m fine.  Please do not send the men in white coats after me with a butterfly net.

I still have no idea what I’m going to do for the piece of work which I have to do by myself. Actually, that’s a lie.  I have one very vague idea but I need to do some research and see if it is actually feasible.  The deadline is the 3rd November!

On another computing related note, I have decided to use Firefox as my main browser.  I found it a little strange to get used to at first but I thought about it- of course it’s going to be a little different.  I’ve been using Internet Explorer for the best part of 7 years now.  I put a theme on FF to make it look a little more like IE.  I’m liking it more already- I downloaded adblock (seemed I just had the G filter before) and I haven’t had a single pop-up.  Not even from the ultimate guitar website (and how annoying was the buzzing mosquito at the top of that page?)!

I have the feeling that most of tomorrow will be spent doing computer related stuff (well after my driving lesson that is).  Need to get some Javascript done which really isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

What else has happened?  Well I had my flu jab on Monday which was every bit as horrific as I thought it would be (mainly that’s because my little sister was in the room calling me a “woose” and a “baby”).  I still don’t like needles (and I’m getting a bloody tattoo soon)!  My arm is now sore and has a big red burning splodge on it.  If it gets too hot, I need to put ice on it apparently.

Lets hope the weather brightens up a bit tomorrow eh?  I hope the powercut we had this morning wasn’t caused by the wind or anything because I don’t want another one this evening (saying that, the lights just dipped right down for a moment)!  It’s tipping it down here and now Sky tv isn’t working and that’s because of the vandalism (if your reading this, you shouldn’t be,  you know who you are and I know who you are) which occurred to our cable and we think water has got into it.

Anyway…back to work for a little longer then it will be time to grab a cup of tea and watch some Due South!

Toodles!

Goo Goo Dolls, 3rd Oct 2006, Aberdeen Music Hall

Well to sum it up in one word; awesome.

We really didn’t think we were going to make it in time for the doors opening at 7.30pm (that’s to a silly amount of road works on both the roads we had the option of taking). Somehow we did actually arrive at 7pm (and I have no idea how), got a car space and joined the queue.

We got into Aberdeen music hall just after 7.30pm which didn’t seem overly crowded so my uncle and I ended up about 6-7 (or less)people from the front. That’s the closest I think I have ever been! I had to defend my space so I make no apologies what-so-ever for the people that I elbowed (well that’s what you get if you try to barge in front of me). To the girl behind me (who sorely needed a hair brush), your shoving didn’t really get you anywhere now did it? In fact, I don’t think you managed to see very much of the concert.

There seemed to be a lot of waiting around but the Tenderbox came onto play at about 8.20pm I think it was. Their music sounded good but annoyingly, I could barely hear a word they were saying (don’t think the volume of their mics was loud enough). I think I might get their album and see what they sound like on that. Funky music- reminded me of the Killers.

There was a bit more waiting around and the Goo Goo Dolls finally came on around 9.25pm bursting onto the stage with Stay With You (which was awesome). Major highlight of the night was Iris. So amazing it sent shivers up your spine. I was also really chuffed because they played Broadway which happens to be one of my favourites.

There was plenty of banter from Johnny. To quote him “George Bush is an angry little monkey who only has one ball” which was hilarious then he compared him to Hitler (with the whole one ball thing). He also had a go at talking like an Aberdonian “Fit like Aiberdeen?”

I have to mention Robby- what a cool bassist. The guy is a nut hehe.

At the end, the Roadies chucked a few stickers out into the audience. I was close enough and one landed on the floor right beside me so I grabbed it

There is no doubt that this band rock and I want to go see them again!! :)
