Scary Storm

Before I proceed with the rest of this blog, I’d like to point out that I’m typing this at 5.45am and have had perhaps 30 minutes sleep tops.

Prior to being woken up, I was in half asleep, half awake mode. However, I heard a huge crash which caused me to jump out of my bed and run out of my room in a state of confusion. That’s right, my part of Scotland seems to be experiencing a thunderstorm. My brain didn’t quite register that fact for a good few minutes, leaving me bewildered as to what the noise was.

To say we are experiencing just the one storm is probably a lie because the thunder and lightening is following an odd pattern- thunder, lightening flash, pause, lightening flash, pause, thunder. Not only that but one minute it seems to be above the house, and the next, it sounds far away. The flashes are all over the place too- flashes of different intensity’s coming from different parts of the sky.

Ooookay, running away now, storm is closing in again……..

New design launched

Welcome to the new look Lynsay’s Little World! :D

A redesign had been in the pipelines for some time now but I couldn’t settle on a colour scheme. I knew I wanted some pink on the site but not the kind of pink that sets off a migraine- I think I have achieved that. Ok, so it’s not completely different to the design I used before but, changing the colours around a little and adding rounded corners/handwriting effects have freshened the site up a little.

There’s still a lot of work to do though- the form on the contact page needs to be fixed and I need to recreate the photography area. The photography area is undergoing a complete makeover- I’m going to implement a photo gallery which I created for the Internet Development module at university. It has to be tweaked though- for starters, I was forced to use MS SQL Server 2005 over MySql so the syntax will need to be changed.

In addition to this, I have taken the portfolio area down at the moment. I’m hoping to develop a mini site with it’s own sub domain to showcase work I’ve done over the past few years. This will become increasingly important because I’m scheduled to graduate next July and this will serve as a folio area which prospective employers can browse though.

I think that’s all for the moment. Comments and queries are welcome (but don’t use the contact page quite yet!)

Redesign colour scheme

It’s finally happened.

Yes, that’s right. I’ve decided on a colour scheme for the redesign of this website. I think. No, wait, I’m sure.

I think.

Partying with the stars

On Saturday I was at yet another gathering (on the 5th I was at a dance and on the 13th I was at a 70th surprise party). I spent my evening with the likes of Elvis, Cruella DeVille, Arwen, a Hobbit, Captain Jack Sparrow, Hermione Granger, Dr Evil, Chewbacca, Noddy, Marilyn Monroe and her twin Marilyn and Noddy, to name but a few.

Confused?

Well it was my friends fancy dress birthday BBQ and you had to dress as a tv/movie character. Owing to my love of jeans, I decided to be Jessie from Toy Story 2. I even had cow print chaps! Of course, the costume gave me an excuse to buy a pair of cowboy boots (not that I really needed an excuse but anyway…..)

It was a great day, a ton of fun and the rain held off. One of the best bits was the pouring of fairy liquid onto the bouncy castle- bubbles everywhere hehe!

Best Dancing EVER!

Ok, here’s a link that features the best dancing ever.  It’s from a concert that Bryan Adams played in America last night.  Basically, he saw this dude called Daniel dancing in the aisle so he pulled him up on stage.

Legend!

Ears Again

A couple of months ago, I posted that I had a bit of an ear problem. Guess what, it’s back.

I popped down to the doctors today and he asked if I was bothered by eczema, which I am (have had it since I was 6 years old). It turns out that I could have it in my ear canal and that’s why it’s been so itchy. I’ve made the problem worse by scratching- now both of my ear canals are swollen and my hearing is a bit muffled.

I’ve been given some medicine to solve the problem- more ear drops and oral antibiotics. Here’s hoping they clear it up.

Summer Holiday

It’s all confirmed- I’m going on a wee holiday at the beginning of August.

Basically, I’ve been sitting looking at a map, figuring out where I’d like to go.  I decided before I go off visiting various foreign countries, I should probably see a little more of Scotland first.

I’m planning on spending a couple of days at Loch Ness, visiting all the tourist attractions and possibly taking a boat ride across the Loch.  The good thing is that I’ll have wireless access whilst in the hotel so if I take any interesting pictures, I’ll be able to upload them and give updates as to where I’ve been.

Following this, I’m planning on coming down the West coast for a day and taking in the scenery.

I’ll be home for one evening after all of that and will be away in Edinburgh for a day!

Really looking forward to it all :)

Prizegiving and a dance

Right folks, proper update time.  What have I been doing the past week?

Last Thursday, 3rd July, I went back to high school for my sister’s prize giving.  She won a Psychology Prize so I went along to show my support.  I have to say, the assembly hall was hotter than hell- it’s surprising that nobody passed out.  It was a good night but there were a LOT of speeches to sit through!

On Saturday night (6th July), I went along to a Marquee dance to mark the end of another successful Fettercairn show (apperantly this year marked the 174th show!).  So basically, I was in a large tent, in a field, nearly a village, in the middle of nowhere.  As random as that sounds, it was a brilliant night.  I laughed ’til I cried on several occassions that evening and before you ask, I was perfectly sober, opting to drink Irn Bru instead.  I even plucked up the courage to dance a little (boogied to the “Twist” and “Summer of ’69″ which incidentally was the closing song of the evening).

One of the funniest moments by far was a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless), falling over in a field, in the dark, partially due to the fact her stilleto heels got stuck in the mud :P .

Fun times.

Friends Movie News

Ok I probably don’t need to remind you that I’m a big fan of the tv series Friends (oh well, I just did).

Anyway, I’ve just read in the newspapers that there might be a Friends movie on the way, due to the success of the Sex and the City movie (which I need to see).

I’m not sure what I think about that at the moment. I mean, how would it work? When would it be set? Would there be a laugh track? Would it feature the line “we were on a break!”? Would Ross and Rachael actually get married?

If it happens, I guess I’m a little concerned that it could turn out to be a bit lame. Then again, how bad can it be? I was one of those people who felt disappointed by the series finale. I was sad that my favourite tv show was ending and that there would never be anymore new episodes for me to see. Ever. It’s funny the way the show mirrored real-life though- I remember at the time it was shown, (May 2004) I was saying goodbye to some of my friends in real-life.

But seriously, if the movie is going to be made, make sure it’s done properly (i.e. bring back the chick and the duck!).
